A Letter to my Second Born on Your Half Birthday

I can not believe my baby is already 6 months old!  It’s going by even faster this time around, so I am trying to soak it all in.  Truthfully I don’t enjoy the first 2-3 months, but 6-9 months is when things finally get fun with a baby (at least for me).

Today, I dedicate this post to my second born…

Dear Daughter,

When I was pregnant with you, I didn’t know how I was going to love even more.  Everyone just said your heart expands, that didn’t make sense to me.  Then you were born and it all made sense.  You light up the room with your smile, your belly laughs can make the worst day, the best in an instant and the way you cuddle into me melts my heart and I don’t want to let you go.  Oh, I can’t forget the way you look at your daddy!  You love him so, and the smile you give him, just watching and waiting for him to look at you, has him totally wrapped around his finger (shhhh don’t tell him I told you!).

You already have a bond with your sister that is the most amazing thing I have ever seen.  I thought it would be at least a year before you two bonded, but it happened so quickly.  When I think she is hurting you and you just laugh, despite my best efforts she makes you laugh more than anyone else.  You two will be best friends, you may not always see eye to eye, but your friendship and sisterhood is there to stay.  Having a sister is a very special thing my darling, don’t take it for granted.

Sadly, I know the next 6 months will fly by too, but I promise to cuddle you a little longer in the middle of the night, to be less frustrated when you just want to be held and to always be there to dry your tears.

My dear daughter you have changed me in ways I didn’t think possible.  You have made me softer and tougher at the same time, showed me how much I can love and proved that I can live on even less sleep!  6 months have flown by and you complete our family.  You make our life a little sweeter and my darling have already changed my world for the better.  Thank you for showing me what I am worth!

Love always,
Your Mama
